Website Hosting (and, how to get started for ONE PENNY)

Hostgator

After Hostgator was bought up by a new parent company I’ve seen a few complaints from their customers, but I’ve personally never experienced any problems.

I’ve used them for more than 10-years and will continue to do so until they give me a reason to leave. The only complaint I can think of is they removed Fantastico! from their CPanel for installing WordPress.

However, that complaint turned out to be a blessing in disguise because after I manually installed WordPress on a new site I found it to run way faster and better than the Fantastico! installed sites. Maybe Fantastico! adds a bunch of goop to the mix. I don’t know.

If you want to install WordPress automatically, Hostgator still has QuickInstall available in CPanel; however, I KNOW QuickInstall adds a bunch of extra crap to their installs, so, personally, I don’t use it.

Anyway, for the price and decent support system, I haven’t found anything better than Hostgator.

Here’s how to get started with a Hostgator hosting account for only one-cent for the first month:

  1. Go to hostgator.com and click on “Get Started Now”

  2. Choose your hosting plan (I recommend the “baby” plan since you can add as many additional domains as you want)

  3. Fill out all your personal data (if you bought your domain name already, make sure you select that at the top)

  4. Change the billing cycle to monthly

  5. Uncheck all of the additional services (You can add them later if you find out you need it)

  6. Use the coupon code: TRUEBONUS1

If you do everything as noted above, you’ll see the Amount Due as .01

That’s all there is to it.

I really do suggest you start with Hostgator, you can always clone your site and transfer it elsewhere if you decide you don’t like them. Besides, the first month–if you follow my steps above–is only one-cent so your risk is about as minimal as it gets.

You can check out Hostgator HERE.

    Domain Registrars

    NameCheap

NameCheap is the only domain registrar I use. It is NOT the least expensive, but there are a multitude of reasons I use it in favor of cheaper companies. If you’re building a website about scrapbooking or gardening, then go ahead and use GoDaddy or one of the other discount registrars.

But, if you’re an online marketer, it is safer to use a registrar that understands our business and won’t shut things down because one random knucklehead issues a complaint.

Isn’t spending an extra one or two-bucks to initially get a domain worth the extra piece of mind? Besides, after the first year NameCheap is CHEAPER EVERY YEAR AFTER THE INITIAL PURCHASE! In other words, you’ll SAVE money by using NameCheap in the long run.

Look, you’re probably going to be OK using another domain registrar, but why risk it?

I’m not messing around… this is my profession, I can’t take a chance on shitcanning my entire business to save pocket change.

    If you’re serious, use Namecheap.

Page Builders

    InstaBuilder

InstaBuilder is a plug-in based sales-page/sales-funnel creation software for WordPress that I’ve used quite a bit. It has a lot of similarities to Optimize Press or even LeadPages or ClickFunnels but instead of using their servers, you use your own WordPress-based website.

Also, InstaBuilder has a Transport to HTML feature so you can duplicate all your pages to a faster and less-cumbersome version.

I use the InstaBuilder Pro version which comes with an easy funnel-builder upgrade. You could still build funnels with the standard version, but it just makes it easier with the upgrade and you get a new set of pro templates every month as a bonus when you go with the pro version.

Perhaps the best reason to go with InstaBuilder is the flat-fee as opposed to the monthly subscription you’d have to pay with either LeadPages or ClickFunnels.

I have used both Optimize Press and LeadPages and I can say I like InstaBuiler better than both of those options. I haven’t tried ClickFunnels yet, but from what I’ve seen it looks impressive. I will probably try it out at some point, so stay tuned.

For now, my recommendation is InstaBuilder for creating sales pages and funnels on a WordPress site.

    Anyway, check out InstaBuilder HERE.

Autoresponders

    GetResponse

Right off the bat I want to make one thing clear: Don’t mess around with free or cheap alternatives; your list is your whole business. Don’t mess around.

I’ve only ever used two autoresponders: Aweber and GetResponse. I like both of them; however, even though I find Aweber to be more user friendly to a degree, I only recommend GetResponse. The reason is GetResponse seems to be more accepting of online marketers whereas Aweber likes to ban them and lock down their email lists.

You cannot take a chance on getting your entire list shut down because someone decides you might be a “spammer.” Look, you’re not a spammer, but if you’re in the online marketing game your MAIN TOOL is your email list. So, don’t mess around.

Also, don’t try and build your list with one of those free alternatives. The free ones may decide to shut down after they learn there’s no money in it and you’ll loose your list. Not a risk you should be willing to take. Don’t mess around with your list.

Sign up for a GetResponse account by CLICKING HERE. It’s FREE for the first 30-days.

    Video Editing

    Adobe Premiere Pro

    Sony Movie Studio Platinum

Sony Movie Studio Platinum is MUCH less expensive than Adobe Premiere Pro, but it is nearly as powerful. I can definitely recommend that one (for PC only) and it can be downloaded from Amazon right now for under $60:
